We know how stressful life can be. Whether it’s a stressful day at work, the constant stream of notifications on your phone or finding the time to get all of your important tasks done for the day. In celebration of Simplicity Day on July 12th, we’ve put together our top tips to switch off – you can thank us later!
Get lost in a book.
If you’ve ever struggled to fall asleep at night why not switch your nightly Netflix binge for a captivating read? Some studies have shown that reading reduces stress levels by up to 68% and can also boost your brain power and improve creativity.
Get out in the great outdoors
Make the most of your weekend and get out in the fresh air. The perfect way to clear your head, head on a hike or sit out in nature and enjoy the serenity of the world around you.
Take time away from your desk
Clear your head and get away from your desk over lunch. You might be tempted to scroll through social media or get more work done, but getting out over your break can give you a much needed brain rest.
Catch up with friends and family
Despite the fact most of us stay attached to some form of social media, this can’t compete with quality face time with those most important to us. Make an effort to meet up for a coffee with that friend you haven’t seen in a while, or catch up with a long lost family member.
Step away from the screen
As well as having positive physical effects such as reducing eyestrain and preventing headaches, taking a break from screens can improve your sleep and focus while being beneficial for your mental well-being.
Cook up a storm
Nothing beats a home cooked meal, so enjoy some quality time cooking a tasty meal for yourself. Whether it’s a Saturday brunch feast or a delicious dinner, you’re brain (and your stomach) will thank you for it!
Learn a new hobby
Stimulate your mind with a new hobby. This is a great alternative to time spent on social media and may just leave you with a new skill! From crochet to surfing the possibilities are endless!
